The DS1302 trickle-charge timekeeping chip contains a real-time clock/calendar and 31 bytes of static RAM. It communicates with a microprocessor via a simple 3-wire serial interface. The real-time clock/calendar provides seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year information with leap-year compensation. It operates from 2.0V to 5.5V with very low power consumption (less than 300nA at 2.0V), extending battery backup run time. The chip is available in 8-pin DIP and SO packages, with optional industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). It includes programmable trickle charger for battery backup and is UL recognized.
