The ACPL-7970 is an optically isolated sigma-delta modulator that converts analog input signals into high-speed data streams using optical coupling technology for galvanic isolation. It operates from a 5V power supply with a dynamic range of 78 dB and features differential inputs of ±200 mV (full scale ±320 mV), making it ideal for direct connection to shunt resistors or other low-level signal sources. The device includes an internal reference voltage, 16-bit resolution with no missing codes, and provides reinforced insulation with 0.5 mm minimum distance through insulation. It offers excellent noise immunity and common-mode transient immunity of 25 kV/ms, making it suitable for fail-safe designs in harsh industrial environments.
