The Excalibur family integrates an ARM922T 32-bit RISC processor core (up to 200 MHz) with APEX 20KE-like programmable logic (100K to 1M gates) on a single device. It features an AMBA AHB bus architecture, embedded peripherals (ETM9 trace module, UART, timer, watchdog), and advanced memory support including internal SRAM (up to 256 KB single-port and 128 KB dual-port), an SDRAM controller (supporting SDR and DDR up to 512 Mbytes and 266 MHz), and an expansion bus interface. The PLD can be reconfigured via the embedded processor. The device supports multiple clock domains with software-programmable PLLs, ClockBoost, and ClockLock. It operates at 1.8 V and supports multiple I/O standards. Development tools include SOPC Builder and Quartus II.
