    Half-duplex RS-485/RS-422 transceivers with enhanced ESD protection (15kV HBM, 15kV IEC61000-4-2 Air Discharge). Fabricated with BiCMOS technology for low power consumption without performance compromise. Features driver/receiver enable controls for multi-drop configurations, fail-safe receiver (output HIGH when inputs unconnected), and wide common mode range (-7V to +12V) for ground potential differences. SP1481E includes a low-power shutdown mode. Supports data rates up to 20Mbps and is pin-compatible with industry-standard SP481/SP485 devices.
