Enhanced transceivers for RS-232 and V.28 serial communication with very low power consumption and single +5V supply operation. On-board charge pump generates fully compliant RS-232 voltage levels using small 0.1µF capacitors without requiring external ±12V supplies. SP211E and SP213E feature a low-power shutdown mode reducing power drain to 1µA, with SP213E including two receivers that remain active during shutdown to monitor for signal activity. Pin-to-pin compatible with previous models and industry-standard devices. Driver output and receiver input pins are protected against ESD to over ±15kV for both Human Body Model and IEC61000-4-2 Air Discharge. Data rates of 120kbps are guaranteed, making them compatible with high-speed modems and PC remote-access applications. Receivers incorporate hysteresis for clean reception of slow moving signals.
