The SP207E-SP213E are enhanced transceivers for RS-232 and V.28 serial communication. They feature low-power CMOS construction and Sipex-patented on-board charge pump circuitry to generate RS-232 signal voltages from a single +5V supply using 0.1µF capacitors. No external +12V or -12V supplies are required. The devices provide various driver/receiver combinations (5 drivers/3 receivers for SP207E, 4 drivers/4 receivers for SP208E, 4 drivers/5 receivers for SP211E and SP213E). SP211E and SP213E feature a low-power shutdown mode reducing supply current to 1µA, with SP213E including two receivers that remain active during shutdown for wake-up functionality. Driver outputs and receiver inputs are protected against ESD to over ±15kV. Data rates exceed 120kbps guaranteed with 230kbps typical, making them compatible with high-speed modems and PC remote-access applications. Receivers incorporate hysteresis for clean reception of slow-moving signals. The family is available in 28 and 24 pin SO and SSOP packages for commercial (0°C to +70°C) and industrial/extended (-40°C to +85°C) operating temperatures.
