The RT1720 is an over-voltage and over-current protection regulator that drives an external N-MOSFET load switch. It features adjustable over-voltage and over-current thresholds, a programmable fault timer, and open-drain fault and power-good outputs. The device operates over a wide input voltage range of 5V to 80V and can withstand reverse supply voltages up to 60V below ground. It linearly regulates output voltage or current during fault conditions while limiting MOSFET stress duration via an external timer. The IC includes an internal charge pump for N-MOSFET drive and provides fast 80mA MOSFET shut-off during overvoltage events.
