Crimp tooling (crimpers and anvils) significantly impacts the crimp termination process. This paper defines key characteristics of crimp tooling—geometry and tolerances, materials, surface condition, and surface treatment—and explains how they affect crimp quality, cost, throughput, and tooling life. High-quality tooling produces consistent crimps with less variation over more terminations.
