XILINXPWR-083 [Texas Instruments]

This power management solution uses SWIFT TPS54xxx series DC/DC converters to support Xilinx Spartan-3 FPGAs. It features high efficiency to minimize heat, interchangeable devices (TPS54110 for 1.5A and TPS54310 for 3A) that are pin-pin compatible, and adjustable devices allowing optimization of inductor size and output capacitors. The design includes integrated soft-start (10 ms rise time) and sequencing (VCCINT, VCCAUX, VCCO) to control in-rush current, eliminating the need for external voltage supervisors. Additional VCCO rails can be added and sequenced. The solution meets Xilinx VCCINT and VCCO start-up profile requirements including monotonic voltage ramp and controlled power voltage ramp time.
