The V3LP is a compact video-encoding and camera application processor manufactured by Allwinner Technology. It is designed for cost-sensitive imaging products such as digital video recorders, IP cameras, dash cameras, portable recorders, video-monitoring terminals, and compact Linux-based camera systems.
The processor integrates a single-core Arm Cortex-A7 CPU running up to 1.2GHz, hardware H.264 video processing, an image signal processor, camera interfaces, display outputs, audio functions, Ethernet, USB, storage controllers, and 512Mbit of embedded DDR2 memory, equivalent to 64MB. This integrated-memory architecture reduces external component count and eliminates high-speed external DRAM routing. A key difference from the closely related Allwinner V3s is the integrated DDR2 supply. The V3LP DDR2 operates at a nominal 1.5V, while the V3s documentation specifies a nominal 1.8V DDR2 supply. This makes V3LP attractive for lower-voltage redesigns, but the power rail and BSP must be validated carefully when migrating from V3s.
There is a discrepancy between the official V3LP datasheet and some secondary reports.
Allwinner’s official V3LP Datasheet Revision 1.0 specifies:
A secondary CNX Software report describes the V3LP as supporting 1080p@40fps encoding, or 1080p@30fps plus VGA@30fps.
For hardware design, thermal calculations and guaranteed product specifications, the conservative engineering approach is to use the official 720p@60fps encoding rating unless a specific Allwinner BSP, SDK release or FAE-approved configuration confirms a higher encoding mode for the exact silicon revision.
The V3LP and V3s are closely related platforms. Both use an Arm Cortex-A7 architecture, include 512Mbit DDR2, and use a 128-pin exposed-pad LQFP package class. The most important documented power difference is the integrated-memory supply:
| Item | V3LP | V3s |
|---|---|---|
| Integrated DDR2 | 512Mbit / 64MB | 512Mbit / 64MB |
| Typical DDR2 Supply | 1.5V | 1.8V |
| Package Class | 128-lead eLQFP | 128-lead eLQFP |
| Ambient Temperature | -20°C to +70°C | -20°C to +70°C |
A secondary industry report describes V3LP as a pin-compatible V3s replacement, but also notes that software may require changes to DDR initialization or related BSP components. Therefore, the V3LP should not be treated as a blind drop-in replacement without checking:
| Segment | Meaning |
|---|---|
| V | Allwinner vision / video processor family |
| 3 | V3 camera and video processor platform |
| LP | Lower-voltage product variant associated with 1.5V integrated DDR2; the full suffix expansion is not publicly defined |
| V3LP | Allwinner video processor with Cortex-A7 CPU, camera/ISP functions, hardware video engine and integrated 64MB DDR2 |
The public datasheet documents the electrical and functional differences but does not provide a formal letter-by-letter expansion of “LP.”

The V3LP integrates a single Arm Cortex-A7 MP1 core operating at up to 1.2GHz. It supports Thumb-2 instructions, NEON Advanced SIMD, VFPv4 floating-point processing and large physical address extensions. The memory hierarchy includes separate 32KB instruction and data caches plus a 128KB L2 cache.
Benefits:
The V3LP integrates 512Mbit / 64MB DDR2 directly in the package. The memory runs at up to 400MHz and uses a nominal 1.5V supply.
Benefits:
The available memory is appropriate for compact Linux systems and dedicated video applications, but it is limited compared with modern application processors. Software, frame-buffer and service memory usage must therefore be controlled carefully.
The integrated video engine provides hardware-accelerated H.264 and JPEG/MJPEG processing. According to the official datasheet, it supports H.264 decoding up to 1080p@30fps, H.264 encoding up to 720p@60fps, JPEG/MJPEG decoding up to 1080p@30fps, and baseline JPEG images up to 8192 × 8192.
Additional functions include:
Benefits:
The V3LP supports both parallel and serial camera sensors. Its interfaces include:
Supported input formats include YUV422, YUV420, RAW8, RAW10, RAW12, RGB888 and RGB565, depending on the selected interface. The MIPI D-PHY supports rates up to 1Gbps per lane.
The image pipeline supports still-image capture up to 5MP and video capture up to 1080p@30fps.
Benefits:
The V3LP incorporates Allwinner’s HawkView ISP, with processing performance up to approximately 8 megapixels at 24fps. It offers two output channels and includes extensive image-processing functions.
Key ISP functions include:
Benefits:
The display engine supports output sizes up to approximately 1024 × 1024. It can drive RGB panels at up to 1024 × 768@60Hz, while serial RGB, dummy RGB and CCIR656 modes support up to 800 × 480@60Hz in the public summary specification.
Other display functions include:
Benefits:
The V3LP includes:
The official audio specification lists an A-weighted signal-to-noise ratio of approximately 92dB.
Benefits:
The V3LP provides a broad embedded interface set.
Storage and boot support includes:
The device includes up to three SD/MMC controllers and supports one- and four-bit SD, SDIO and MMC interfaces.
Connectivity and control resources include:
Benefits:
The V3LP includes hardware support for:
Benefits:
The V3LP combines the processor and 64MB DDR2 in a 128-lead exposed-pad eLQFP package measuring approximately 14mm × 14mm × 1.4mm.
Benefits:
The official V3LP documentation identifies DVR products as a target application.
The integrated ISP, video encoder, Ethernet PHY and camera interfaces provide most of the core functions required by an entry-level IPC system.
The compact integrated-memory package and SD-card interface make the device particularly suitable for cost-sensitive recording products.
The V3LP is intended for conventional video capture and image processing. It does not include a modern dedicated TOPS-rated NPU, so advanced neural-network inference generally requires CPU optimization, a lightweight algorithm or an external AI accelerator.
