The MAX3320 combines a microprocessor supervisory circuit with an RS-232 transceiver. It features a power-on reset that asserts a reset signal when VCC falls below a preset threshold, staying asserted for at least 100ms after VCC rises above the threshold. The device includes an AutoShutdown Plus mode that reduces supply current to 4µA when no activity is detected for 30 seconds. It operates from a 3V to 5.5V supply and supports data rates up to 250kbps. The transceiver uses a dual charge pump to generate ±5.5V from the supply, requiring only four external capacitors. It comes in a 20-pin SSOP package.
