The 78LXX series are three-terminal positive voltage regulators capable of providing up to 100mA output current. They feature internal limiting and thermal shutdown for overload protection, and are immune to overload. They can replace zener diode-resistor combinations for improved output impedance and lower quiescent current. Key features include thermal overload protection, short circuit protection, and output transistor safe area protection. They require no external components and are available in SOT89 and TO92 packages with output voltage accuracy of ±5%.
