They replace linear and capacitor-fed non-isolated power supplies, offering higher performance and energy efficiency. Features include auto-restart for fault protection (except LNK302), frequency jittering to reduce EMI, high breakdown voltage, and support for buck, buck-boost, and flyback topologies with system-level protection.
