TOPSwitch-II is a three-terminal off-line PWM switch that integrates a power MOSFET, PWM controller, high voltage start-up circuit, loop compensation, and fault protection circuitry into a monolithic IC. It offers the lowest cost and component count switcher solution, achieving up to 90% efficiency. The family supports multiple topologies (Flyback, Forward, Boost, Buck) and feedback methods (primary or opto), with built-in auto-restart, current limiting, and latching thermal shutdown. The package design transfers heat directly to the board through source pins, eliminating heatsinks. It features improved tolerance to board layout and line transients.
