The VIPer50-E is a primary-side integrated circuit for switch-mode power supplies (SMPS). It integrates a PWM controller and a high-voltage power MOSFET (620V/1.5A) on a single chip. It supports adjustable switching frequency up to 200 kHz, current mode control, soft start, shutdown control, automatic burst mode operation for stand-by mode (meeting <1W total power consumption), internally trimmed zener reference, under-voltage lock-out with hysteresis, integrated start-up supply, over-temperature protection, low stand-by current, and adjustable current limitation. Typical applications include offline power supplies with secondary power capability of 25W in wide range and 50W in single range or doubler configuration. It is compatible with both primary and secondary regulation loops, reducing component count by about 50% compared to discrete solutions.
