The HC4059 are high-speed CMOS programmable divide-by-N counters. They are synchronous presettable down-counters that can be programmed to divide an input frequency by any number N from 3 to 15,999. The output is a pulse one clock cycle wide at a rate equal to the input frequency divided by N. The counter is preset by 16 jam inputs. Mode-Select inputs (Ka, Kb, Kc) determine the modulus of the first and last counting sections. The device features fully static operation, master preset initialization, and a latchable ÷N output. It offers wide operating voltage (2V to 6V) and temperature range (-55°C to 125°C), with high noise immunity and low power consumption compared to LSTTL.
