The APDS-9950 is a next-generation digital color light sensor containing four integrating ADCs for RGBC photodiodes. It features proximity detection with a dedicated photodiode, internal LED driver, and calibrated 100 mm detection range. The device includes an IR blocking filter for accurate ambient light sensing and color temperature monitoring. Key capabilities include programmable analog gain and integration time, maskable interrupts with programmable thresholds and persistence filter, and power management with ultra-low sleep (2.5 µA) and wait (85 µA) states. Communication occurs via I2C-bus Fast Mode interface (up to 400 kHz). The sensor is housed in a compact 3.94 × 2.36 × 1.35 mm package.
