Each encoder contains a lensed LED source, an integrated circuit with detectors and output circuitry, and a codewheel. The HEDS series uses metal codewheels, while the HEDM series uses film codewheels, allowing resolutions up to 1024 counts per revolution. They are TTL compatible, operate on a single 5 V supply, and have an operating temperature range of -40°C to 100°C for HEDS series and -40°C to 70°C or 85°C for HEDM series. Quick and easy mounting to motors is possible, with external mounting ears available for larger diameters.
