The HEDS and HEDM series are optical incremental encoders with two or three channels. They feature high reliability, high resolution, and easy assembly. Each encoder contains a lensed LED source, an integrated circuit with detectors and output circuitry, and a codewheel. Outputs are two square waves in quadrature, with an optional index pulse for three-channel models. They are low cost, small size, operate from -40°C to 100°C (HEDS series) or -40°C to 70°C/85°C (HEDM series), TTL compatible, and use a single 5V supply. Resolutions up to 1024 counts per revolution are available.
