The USB-COM485-PLUS4 is a USB to quad-port RS485 adapter that provides a fast, simple way to connect RS485 devices to USB. It uses FTDI's FT4232H IC with integrated RS485 level shifters and features TXD/RXD LEDs for data traffic indication. The module uses a standard USB mini-B connector and industry-standard DE-9P connectors for RS485 connections. It requires USB device drivers to appear as a Virtual COM Port (VCP), enabling communication with legacy RS485 peripherals through existing serial software. Key features include plug & play installation, compatibility with USB 1.1 & 2.0, FIFO buffers (2K byte transmit/receive), up to 10Mbps data rate, and operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
