Cyclone V devices are built on TSMC's 28-nm low-power (28LP) process technology and include an abundance of hard intellectual property (IP) blocks. They offer up to 40% lower power consumption than the previous generation. The devices feature an 8-input adaptive logic module (ALM), up to 13.59 Mb of embedded memory, variable-precision digital signal processing (DSP) blocks, and hard memory controllers. They also include transceivers with speeds from 614 Mbps to 6.144 Gbps. For SoC designs, the Cyclone V SE, SX, and ST variants integrate a dual-core Arm Cortex-A9 MPCore processor with the FPGA fabric, providing over 128 Gbps peak bandwidth. The devices require only two core voltages and are available in low-cost wirebond packaging. Innovative features include Configuration via Protocol (CvP) and partial reconfiguration.
