    TOPSwitch-GX is an integrated off-line switcher family that converts control input current to duty cycle at the drain output. It integrates high-voltage power MOSFET, PWM control, fault protection, and control circuitry. New functions reduce system cost and improve design flexibility, performance, and energy efficiency. Features include soft-start, frequency jittering for reduced EMI, hysteretic thermal shutdown, line sensing (OV/UV), externally programmable current limit, remote ON/OFF, synchronization, and frequency selection (132 kHz/66 kHz). Packages include P (DIP-8B), G (SMD-8B), Y (TO-220-7C), R (TO-263-7C), and F (TO-262-7C).

    • Extended power range, no heatsink required up to 34W (P/G packages), eliminates/reduces external components cost, fully integrated soft-start, externally programmable current limit, wider duty cycle (78% default, 38% min with line feed-forward), separate line sense and current limit pins (Y/R/F packages), line under-voltage (UV) detection, line overvoltage (OV) shutdown, line feed-forward with DC_MAX reduction, frequency jittering (±4 kHz at 250 Hz), regulates to zero load, 132 kHz frequency (reduces transformer size), half frequency option (66 kHz) for video applications, hysteretic thermal shutdown, large thermal hysteresis, EcoSmart energy efficient (low standby consumption: 80 mW at 110 VAC, 160 mW at 230 VAC), frequency lowered with load for high standby efficiency, shutdown/wake-up via LAN/input port
