The OP520DA and OP521DA are NPN silicon photo darlingtons in miniature 1206 SMD packages. Both feature a flat lens, with the OP520DA having an opaque lens to shield from ambient light and the OP521DA having a water clear lens. They are packaged in compact 1206 chip carriers compatible with automated mounting equipment. These sensors are mechanically and spectrally matched to the OP250 series infrared LEDs. The flat window lens enables a wide acceptance angle. They are 100% production tested using infrared light for close correlation with Optek GaAs and GaAlAs emitters. Photo darlington devices are used in applications where light signals are low and more current gain is needed than standard phototransistors.
