EPC devices are single-chip configuration solutions for Altera FPGAs, containing 4-, 8-, and 16-Mb flash memories for configuration data storage. They feature on-chip decompression which almost doubles effective configuration density, combine standard flash die and controller die into single stacked chip package, support external flash interface for parallel programming and external processor access, flash memory block protection, page mode support for remote and local reconfiguration, byte-wide configuration mode (FPP), and true n-bit concurrent configuration (n=1,2,4,8) of Altera FPGAs. The devices have 3.3-V core and I/O interface, are available in 100-pin PQFP and 88-pin UFBGA packages, support JTAG boundary scan and in-system programming using Jam STAPL, and feature standby mode with reduced power consumption.
