EPC devices provide a single-chip configuration solution for Altera FPGAs including ACEX 1K, APEX 20K, APEX II, Arria GX, Cyclone, Cyclone II, FLEX 10K, Mercury, Stratix II, and Stratix II GX families. They contain 4-, 8-, and 16-Mb flash memories for configuration data storage, feature on-chip decompression to double effective density, and combine standard flash die with a controller die in a stacked chip package. The devices support external flash interface for parallel programming and processor access, page mode for remote/local reconfiguration with up to eight configurations, byte-wide FPP configuration mode, and true n-bit concurrent configuration (n=1,2,4,8). Additional features include pin-selectable 2-ms or 100-ms POR time, programmable configuration clock sources (internal oscillator up to 66 MHz, external up to 100 MHz), and availability in 100-pin PQFP and 88-pin UFBGA packages.
