The HEDS-5500/5540, HEDS-5600/5640, HEDM-5500/5540, and HEDM-5600 are optical incremental encoders emphasizing high reliability, high resolution, and easy assembly. They contain a lensed LED source, an integrated circuit with detectors and output circuitry, and a codewheel. HEDS series uses metal codewheels, HEDM series uses film codewheels for resolutions up to 1024 counts per revolution. Outputs are two square waves in quadrature, with optional index pulse for three-channel models. Encoders are TTL compatible, operate from a single 5 V supply, and feature quick mounting with external ears available for larger motors.
